           Witterings Counselling

Angélique is a Psychodynamic Psychotherapeutic Counsellor fully

insured, registered with the British Association for Counsellors and

Psychotherapists (BACP), working from her Private Practice based

in East Wittering.

Angélique works with adults and couples, with a special interest

in Perinatal mental health.

There are times in life when things are feeling difficult, frustrating,

upsetting and even impossible to manage. This can be impacting your

relationships, work, outlook on life, how you approach new things and

perhaps a general sense of being stuck. This may occur to you, as an

individual or within a relationship. There are many transitions in life

that can bring us closer or drift us apart.

Pregnancy, difficulty getting pregnant or pregnancy loss, as well as birth and postpartum, will be experienced differently. Your experience and feelings will be heard and held, especially in those moments when everything may feel intolerable, irrational or even anxiety provoking.

About my work

Psychodynamic Therapy is based on the theory that our thoughts and feelings are shaped by our early experiences. Driven by our unconscious and its impulses, due to these early patterns, we can feel surprised when we respond and feel emotions in certain situations e.g. anger, fear, shame, that are connected to our earliest memories. Being able to make sense of these can help us move forward with more understanding and a growing sense of self.

The not knowing what to expect when seeking counselling can feel daunting and anxiety provoking. It makes the therapeutic relationship an important part of beginning to make sense of and understanding what is  the root of those feelings.

Everyone's experience will be unique and it is important that you feel held and secure so that over time it may feel secure enough to open the door to hidden unbearable thoughts and feelings. This process will not be linear and at times may feel challenging but together we can explore and think about your feelings and their origins. This will allow you to see and experience the present with new insight and deeper self-awareness so that you can move forward as your authentic self.

As registered Member of the BACP I abide by the Ethical Framework for Good Practice. It is a requirement that I have regular Supervision and I continue with my Professional Development to update and develop my counselling skills and knowledge.

Some of the recent training:

  • Loss of a Baby in Multiple Pregnancy (2024)

  • Perinatal Mental Health Level 4 - Developing Advanced Skills in Postnatal Depression, Birth Trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (2024)

  • Certificate in Couples Counselling (2023)

I am also registered with the ICO (Information Commissioners Office).
